Childhood Dreams

This week in my class of Introduction of Entrepreneurship we watched a video and read the last lecture of Randy Pausch. In this lecture he talked about his childhood dreams and how he was able to accomplish them. He asked in his lecture if you wanted to be more like Tigger or an Eeyore. Tigger was a go getter and even though he made a mess wherever went, he lived life to the fullest. Eeyore was always depressed and waited for things to happen, and sometimes they didn’t, which probably made him more depressed. We can live life to the fullest, try new things, and watch our childhood dreams come alive.

Dreaming is important for children and for adults. Dreams help us set goals and gives us the gumption to do something. Dreams spark our imagination and helps us puts things in perspective. I believe dreaming is very beneficial.

My childhood dream has always been to open a bakery and make sweet treats. There is a television series called, “Murder, She Baked.” In this series, the main character has a bakery that everyone flocks to because she is an incredible baker. Since she hears everyone’s gossip, she can help the police detective solve murders. I would like to open a bakery, not solve murder, but to have people gather around for my delicious treats. I can achieve this childhood dream by graduating with a business degree and starting out with a small delivering service that could be built up to a bigger business. First, I would need to get my bakery’s name out and attract customers by giving some free samples to business. Second, I could have my business logo, name, and my number printed on cute boxes, so as I deliver them, I’m also spreading the news of my bakery.

The beginning of a new adventure and semester.

This is my first-time blogging, but I'm excited to blog and be able to look back on my journey through this class. In my studies this week, I read some advice that I thought was super important. Decide where you want to be in ten years and plan how you will arrive at this goal. With your plan in hand, be ready to adapt to changes and keep moving forward with your goal. Guy Kawasaki made a comment about starting a business. He said, “Don’t start a business because it’s hot, do something because you enjoy it.” He also made the comment to start a business to help people and not just to make money. The business that is to help people will be more successful. If you’re in the business to just make money, you lose sight of what is important.

I am looking forward to this semester and what I will be learning. I am excited to learn more about what an entrepreneur is. I want to learn what it will take to start my own business to give the idea of what I’m jumping into. I always thought it would be a great idea to open my own café, serving pastries and sandwiches. As I think about this idea, I also wonder how I can help people in the community with my café.

As I have served in different leadership positions in the church, I feel like these experiences will help me be a better leader and owner of a café. I will be able to communicate, organize, and lead my employees in a nice and professional way. I feel that doing the Pathway program and doing the life skills class also prepared me to know a little more on how to balance work, family, and church.

You can do this!

This is my last week of this semester of school. This last blog is for the introduction of entrepreneur class that I have been in. I have en...
